The quaint, unspoilt village of Moscari surrounded by the mountains is where one finds Ca'n Calco, a traditional Mallorquin house which has been sensitively refurbished to preserve its original character. A mellow stone building on the village square, it looks more akin to a private house than a hotel, but get a little closer, walk through the wrought iron gates and you will find yourself in an intimate reception area with dining room and comfortable lounge leading to a spacious covered terrace overlooking the lovely gardens and small pool. All the bedrooms upstairs (no lift) are spacious, partially attributable to the almost minimalist presentation, are individually decorated and have telephone, internet access, satellite TV, Hi-Fi, and a minibar. Luxurious bathrooms include sunken hydro-massage baths and hair dryers. Ca'n Calco is air conditioned and centrally heated, so it is perfect as a winter retreat or summer hideaway. Bicycles are at your disposal so you may explore the hidden paths and tracks of the surrounding countryside which is also great for walking. The restaurant is rather unique in that it is only open to residents and their friends, house specialities often include daily fresh fish from the family’s own trawler! The owners extend “a day in the life of a fisherman” invitation to their guests (all trips insured and licensed), assisting with the trawling and selection of the fish and lobsters. Mending of nets is optional……There is a special price for the whole hotel that may be rented either on a serviced bed & breakfast basis, or room only, like a villa. 2006 per room per week.
